Andarl Farm, based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, began in 2012 in the most unexpected way. After their mother sadly passed away, we were left with two orphan piglets that needed to be hand-reared. We named them Thelma and Louise, and what started as an act of care quickly became something much bigger.
Looking after Thelma and Louise gave us a real appreciation for pigs, their welfare and the difference that careful rearing can make. What began with two piglets soon grew into a herd, and before long Andarl Farm was born.
From the beginning, our focus was simple: to rear pigs with care and produce pork with exceptional flavour, texture and consistency. As friends, neighbours and local customers began trying our produce, word quickly spread.
