Donore Credit Union is proud to be Ireland’s first and oldest credit union, founded in 1958 in the heart of Dublin 8 by a group of neighbours who believed that access to fair and affordable financial services should be available to all. Built on cooperation, community, and care, Donore has grown from those humble beginnings into a thriving, member-owned financial institution that puts people at the centre of everything we do.

As a not-for-profit cooperative, our mission is to serve the financial needs of our members while investing in the social, economic, and environmental wellbeing of our local community. We offer savings, loans, and financial education — but we also go beyond banking. We support local clubs, societies, sports teams, and community initiatives, helping members of all ages to thrive.

On average, our credit union creates a social dividend of over €25 million per year. With inputs of just €2.5 million, that means a return of €10 back into the community for every €1 — a social dividend ratio of 10:1.
