Wound Healing Study with Tonstix Pops

Soothing Solutions Ltd.’s popular medicinal free and naturally soothing Tonstix jelly pops underwent in vitro cellular bioactivity assays using Detroit 562 pharyngeal cells. The aim of this study was to investigate Tonstix jelly pops potential anti-inflammatory activity against an established pro-inflammatory cellular insult of lipopolysaccharides (LPS)(1) and potential wound healing properties using the scratch wound assay which measures the migration and repair of a cell monolayer after a set scratch or ‘wound’ is introduced. The more of the scratch area recovered by new growth of cells over a set period of time indicates faster or improved ‘healing’. Outcome: The SSF itself appears to confer a proliferative effect as seen by the significant increase in cell viability in all samples containing it.. Tonstix jelly pop samples reduced LPS-induced IL-6 levels at both concentrations tested (0.2g mL and 0.05g/ mL), a finding that is linked to anti-inflammatory activity and wound healing
